Bjorn Calleja

Bjorn Calleja‟s paintings are sordid re-enactments of nursery rhymes and fairy tales exposing the lascivious malevolence that seeps through the cracks of niceness and moralizing nature that pander to catholic guilt. Yet there remains a delicacy that amplifies rather the melancholia of his tubby limbless characters gazing teary-eyed in a hallucinatory Tellytubby paradise. He was incubated in the surreality of Saturday Morning cartoons, The Three Stooges and Mad magazine. He earned his fine arts degree from the Far Eastern University and has been exhibited in sev-eral notable galleries in Manila. He has upcoming solo exhibits at Lost Gallery and at Secret Fresh.
