Dex Fernandez

Dexter Fernandez grew up in Caloocan and studied art and advertising at the Technological University of the Philippines Manila. His works are intricate ruminations of random surface decor on thrift shop postcards and religious stampitas, which are part paper tattooing and part manic mantra doodling that conflates the supposed seriousness of such images and amplifies the kitsch sentimentality these images harbor. He’s had his first one man show at Pablo Gallery in 2010 and recently at 20 Square.
